One of the biggest differences between now and the past is how rapidly ideas become money. Now ideas can become money as soon as you put them on a server and set up credit card processing. (And cryptocurrency may soon eliminate the second step.)

I personally think this is, if not good, at least inevitable. Ideas and money want to find each other, and as a result the gap between them has closed inexorably over time.

Inequality is not a problem. We are all unequal in experiences, free time, connections. YC is a great example on how to reduce the gap between ideas and money no matter where you come from.

I thought inequality comes from intergenerational transfer of wealth.

200 years ago you would have been right. That was the big source of it historically. But in some countries (including the US) it now accounts for less than half of great fortunes.

It is easier to create tools to accelerate the execution of quality ideas than it is to create tools/methods to accelerate the generation of quality ideas.
