Can you expand, do you mean something like this? "This might work but we'll do an experiment first" versus "I'm quitting my job to do this startup"
I meant tentative when dealing with ideas, not hesitant when acting.

Hmm I'm definitely missing the point. One parallel might be Kegans fifth stage of adult development, the analogy I've heard is "being able to run ideas inside a VM in your mind"
