I'll take sci-fi's understanding of psychology over tech entrepreneurs any day. For example in the book/tv series The Expanse, while many are vegans, real meat and cheese is downright fetishised, with people spending great amounts of delta-V to get real farm animals into orbit.https://twitter.com/paulg/status/1099648817601921024 …

I have an old HN post somewhere on how to subsist off sub $2 meals (this was during YC). The meat we had was either Tuesday dinners or so processed as to be indistinguishable from fake. Millions get by on dollar menu deals from fast food. Status isn’t a concern. Next paycheck is.

This is basically “Diamond Age” scenario where anything and everything is digital (ie infinitely reproducible) then Hand-made/singular/analog becomes art and is fetishized by the wealthy even if it’s an inferior good.

@paulg thinks that food would become more like tech (objective, scientific, repeatable, fast moving, disruption). But I think it's the other way. Tech would become more like food, (cultural, subjective, pseudo scientific). Early example: Bitcoin.Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

Why do you think you could make it taste better? Like, what specific biochemistry? Given how incredibly subjective taste is the only way I can see it tasting better is from people eating it for a) social reasons, b) from their youth.
