People have little loyalty to meat per se. If you made something that was cheaper and tasted better, most carnivores would switch. Once that shift started, social pressure against eating meat would grow rapidly. It would seem, and in fact would be, perverse.

Yes, but as it always does, it will lift the standard of living for all, while shaping the earth futures for the better. Are we really going to not allow that because inequality will increase ?
-
I think it's a good thing to recognize the duality of the effects. Yes the living standards will rise and
decreased green house emissions.
But it should be on society to incentivize retraining and repurposing of these farms.
Living without purpose has bad effects long term.

Honest question. Does income inequality really have any real negative effects? Or is it something socialists like to pick at?
-
Yes: look at rising infant mortality stats in the UK and correlate with changing Gini coefficient, 2008-18. Numbers aren’t lying: poverty kills.

It'll be interesting to see if creating our non-animal "meat" with the same protein and nutrients can exceed nature's energy efficiency.

It's for sure more than only farmers. The meat supply chain is huge. Many of these parts can only function with traditional meat. Let alone the supply chain of farming itself. Manufactured food is the cause of all sorts of physical ailments. Want to live a healthy life? Only eat foods grown or killed. Don't eat food from the lab with an ingredients list where you have no idea WTF that shit is.

- how much ag based raw materials will substitutes require & will farms transition to those? - will ethical viewpoint on meat apply equally to large, family, and subsistence farms? - what happens to land? In expensive markets, farmers sell off. In cheap/rural, further collapse?
