I used to think as an entrepreneur everything I’d got I’d earned. More recently I’ve realized there was a huge amount of infrastructure set up for me to make it (educated workforce, execs, the internet) and I really controlled a much smaller % of the outcome than I’d thought.

How do you define "promising" though? Someone with a successful exit in the past?

Ok, why would you be willing to pay a 1000x premium (or even more) in a funding round? Assuming you have access / network / knowledge etc that others don't have?

i guess paul's response was because the question was "versus a random person". not even a random person who speaks one of the primary languages of commerce, or a random person who is online, or a random person who owns a computer.. a lot of the world is still low tech
