It was an interesting experience, but I decided afterward that I wouldn't want to write everything this way. It made me reluctant to take risks when I knew everything I typed would eventually get seen.

Can I ask if that happens on the YC application too? I’ve wondered if everything that gets typed gets saved?

When it was my code (up till about 2015) it certainly didn't. It's unlikely they'd have added added anything like that, because it would slow down application reading in exchange for little data of value. If they wanted to trade time for data, they'd add questions.
