This is why merely increasing taxes won't turn America into Scandinavia. I suspect Denmark with American tax rates would be a better place to live than America with Danish tax rates.

Systemic corruption is hard to fix, and won’t be fixed just by “fighting” it (e.g. more enforcement). The way to fix it is to drastically reduce the ability to grant favors (though I don’t know how to do that). Until then, raising taxes is just lining more pockets.
