@ycombinator could/should filter for?
If only one could. But how people behave when things get tough is among the hardest things to predict. Founders themselves often can't predict it, especially the younger ones.

Is there a correlating predictor for this I wonder? Other than simply "wait until things get tough".

Same event horizon in the military. Nobody knows who's going to to be gritty and/or heroic until it happens. Nobody can predict it, not the trainees themselves, not even the trainers who see hundreds or thousands of trainees.
