If only one could. But how people behave when things get tough is among the hardest things to predict. Founders themselves often can't predict it, especially the younger ones.

Perhaps this applies more generally and definitely looks skewed when only applied to ‘founders’. If the category were ‘people stranded in the wilderness’, suddenly it wouldn’t be a minority.

I've definitely seen the opposite trend. Not wanting to quit your day job is a big predictor of failure.
