Clean energy tech is already cheaper, more efficient, and more profitable than fossil fuel. The problem is that all these fossil fuel CEOs don’t even pay the historically low tax rates they already have and instead spend their money buying politicians to rig the energy economy.

In a free society, you need a reason to take someone’s money, not a reason to leave it in their possession. “Cutting taxes just to cut taxes” is morally superior to raising taxes just to raise taxes, because one involves coercion and the other doesn’t.

I agree with your broader point, but with one important qualifier: the burden of proof should be higher on those who pursue higher taxation, because of the coercion inherent in taxation and the oppprtunity cost of the loss of private wealth.
