Try this thought experiment: If new technology suddenly made it cheap to fix climate change, would Ocasio-Cortez stop wanting to raise taxes? I would guess not. I think the desire to raise taxes precedes the choice of how to spend the money.

When things are fixed then maybe a politician vowing to lower taxes would be more appealing to the majority. And a good percentage of the 41% don't know how marginal taxes work. Not because their stupid, but because they are being lied to by politicians and fox news.
