Try this thought experiment: If new technology suddenly made it cheap to fix climate change, would Ocasio-Cortez stop wanting to raise taxes? I would guess not. I think the desire to raise taxes precedes the choice of how to spend the money.

Have you experienced what it's like to be under crippling student loan debt, 8.5% interest rate without a clear pathway to paying those off in 20 years? Those kids today are poorer than their parents were.

That is always a worry (since the time of Vespasian IIRC) but it has never happened yet.

Maybe we should not only look at the the classification of poverty, but rather the objective that as an advanced society we have. Technology, with its compound effects on capital, is growing the concentration of wealth in the hands of a few while leaving well behind the rest.pic.twitter.com/SqwwkqAGvI

The trend here shows that this isn't going to stop. Is that the society that we want to build? Democrats talk about taxes as a solution to a problem that exists only if one believes that our society needs to take care of everybody. Otherwise this is not a problem at all.

You're mistaken. You can't use that analogy. You have to compare to pre-technological era of the 50's & 60's & the same controlled sample group(median income) of the population per capita & adjusted income vs.spending on consumer goods. You are wrong. They are absolutely correct.

It makes the middle class now the POOR...based on the disparity between the wealthy & middle class. There is no more middle class. ALL middle class are now by the numbers below the poverty line. Check Census bureau data. There are only two classes demographically wealthy & poor.

Since the bulk of consumerism is technology purchases. The disparity is a direct result of technology.

Probably true. But that is a super low bar (almost every where in the world the poor are getting a bit richer). However the growth/progress is not even going proportionally to the poor, ideally you want to see higher % going to poor. Are we not smart enough to solve this issue?
