Two people can talk themselves into doing something neither would do alone. This force has a dark side. It drives bullying and, for large n, mobs. But it also produces some amazing things.

We need a space with idea-diaries for people. I've so many "What if we could _______" - eliminate food with pills, a controllable biological operating system for humans... It's always interesting to find and know more people thinking/wanting those things.

I love this!! Everyday I try to think up unique ideas like this. Would be awesome to share it with others and see what they think and come up with too.

You need a reason for people who are into the same project to gather in one place. That’s what Github provided but only for code. Our goal is to do the same for any community. See our latest investors update https://medium.com/open-collective/2018-update-2d48e8c68568 … With climate change, time is now to collaborate.

1/ Effective problem-solving requires Collaborative Empiricism, where Ideas are built into Products, measured to generate Data, which drives learning and improvement. Too much of Twitter is free-floating Collaborative Speculation, unmoored from effective Measurement and Learning.pic.twitter.com/21wPXkdkxd

2/ it’s as if people learned nothing from the Scientific Revolution, effectively articulated in the late 17th century by the motto of the British Royal Society: Nullius in Verba (take nobody’s word for it.)pic.twitter.com/SEqT1BaSYm

3/ this “is an expression of the determination of Fellows to withstand the domination of authority and to verify all statements by an appeal to facts determined by experiment.” Much better than narrow-minded insistence on preferred dogma, via call outs vs data.

I've given talks about this topic, in a more general framing of "Collaboration Technology". CollabTech is technology for aligning incentives, solving economic tragedies, and reducing friction. The earliest CollabTech is religion, the latest is blockchain:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NPwtlsW8y6I …
-
In particular, the earliest collaboration technologies are religion and the nation state: they maximize social welfare by realigning incentives to enable collective action (and to disincentivize us from murdering each other :) ). Then come the telegraph, cryptography, facebook.
