That the US, has this system where the President can arbitrarily pardon someone, is beyond me. This has more or less be abused, by every president, in my lifetime. I dont think there is any justification, for a system like this.
It was of course intended as a check on the Judiciary. But that's not how it is used, pretty much ever.
