Hmm, really? Are you partly joking or not at all? It's true I hardly ever look in them myself. But I've always assumed there are other people working on other stuff who do.

There are more programmers now, and even though a smaller proportion are dealing with TAOCP level stuff, in absolute numbers I am sure they are more than ever
