Just read http://www.paulgraham.com/ineq.html by @paulg. More and more convinced by the idea that wealth and inequality are unlinked. However it also seems that inequalities perception may decrease happiness. What are your thoughts about it ? Any idea going in the opposite direction ?
I think that's true, but that it's greater at the lower end of the income scale. So if you attack poverty you're also attacking most of the unhappiness caused by inequality.

That's half of it. The mind instinctively recoils watching someone who will obtain no observable benefit from it gaining another 100 Million, while 100,000 people who certainly WOULD have an observable impact from $1000 exist. In the same city...

The OTHER half is power. Someone with those funds has a tremendous power over others in our current system. Some folks are QUITE benevolent in that role and others are terrifying in being willing to use capital to bend things to their will.
