I visited YC Cambridge in 08 and it *was* like a family, e.g. communal meals. "We'd refuse to fund founders whose characters we had doubts about even if we thought they'd be successful." Curious - did they tend to achieve success as founders?

History shows bad people can succeed at some things. Getting political power for example. I think startups just happen to be one of the places where it doesn't work. Partly because you need the cooperation of people good enough that they have other options.
