      You could make a case that it's a step forward that our kids play with virtual toys (= video games) rather than physical ones. If video games hadn't taken off, maybe we'd be complaining kids were so literal-minded they had to have actual physical toys

      I'm still unsure about the whole question of "screen time." One thing I'm not unsure about is that a lot of the monetization mechanisms are evil. FIFA = gambling. But I know that's no argument against games per se.

      Yes, that worries me. They can sit there like zombies for hours if you let them. That surely can't be good.

          This is precisely what scientists say is bad: passive screen time, especially when the brain is still developing basic structures. Active screen time (games) is fine because kids have to think/act based on the sensory input. When watching TV they are just absorbing input.
