All the best investors I know are more like founders than investors: Fred Wilson, Mike Moritz, Pmarca, Ben Horowitz, Keith Rabois. What do I mean by like founders? Informal, pragmatic, genuinely interested in products and not just in money.

Your list and all the mentions make it sound like most VC's are great but how does one go about getting a meeting with any of them? It seems that outsiders (cold calls) can't even get to the doorbell. I'm passing a highly focused year of trying with zero meetings.
Your best bet is to get an intro via one of their portfolio cos. The set of your friends-of-friends and the set of people who work for their portfolio cos are both so large that odds are they intersect somewhere.

Been there. No intersection. We've been stealth till now. Can't even get to a high level on those companies. Why can't I just ask for help? Time's a wasting and the climate's a changing.
