Which service providers couldn't do? Could be. Or do you think the recession dealt the final blow to a bunch of goods-producing companies that were already near death, of which there were more because there has been more growth in services than goods?

Could it be that many services are harder to outsource to cheaper COGS venues; whereas goods can always be produced elsewhere and imported

But isn’t this a cyclical/generational shift we’ve seen before? The industrial revolution killed a large percentage of once in-demand goods but years later would serve no purpose.
