Yes, this is key info to understand customers, but listening to their petitions is not the guarantee to a good sell. We cannot assume all the time they are able to say what they need. At the same time, if we sold exactly to what they ask, nothing new would be invented.

A good salesperson can (ofc) sell you something you don't really want (I'd still probably agree with original claim but would change 'best' to 'least worst'

An effective salesperson knows that the customer DOES want the product or service, and that something else is preventing them from purchasing it. Figure out what the problem is and solve it!
