What about Texas?
I haven't spent enough time in any Texas cities to say about any of them either.

Texas in general is more old school entrepreneurial with some tech flourishing than purely intellectual. Now it does exists in many of the large metros (even a few small ones), but more structured and not as flourishing as anything in the UK.
