My 10 year old asked how to be good at things. I told him that how good people were at something depended on: (a) natural ability, (b) practice, and (c) how into it they were.

This is great. I was definitely infected with the idea work is boring. Should've quit my politics degree a year before I did, I assumed misery was part of learning. It was different when I studied music; at times I was miserable but I had hope & envisioned a positive future.

Spot on. I was/am horrible at many things, some I tried to get better with practice and persistence but in the end, didn’t love them/doing it - took a while to realize it, but without loving it for yourself - you are just doing it for others.

I find that I will make the effort to learn something I’m not that interested but only if I know it will help me be better at something I love. For example, learning Italian so I can be better at singing opera.

FYI - The Greek translation link is broken. It is pointing to expired domain. I don’t know why I checked it since I don’t speak the language.

I read it in 2005 and it changed my life. I quit P&G and followed my dream of making a difference in education. Thank you!

Everyone needs something to believe in, if you dig deep enough into the human psyche you learn what that individual has to offer. Question one is how do you feel about picture one. Fill in the blank with pictures and feelings at a very young age.
