One of the less talked about realities of achieving something great is the sheer amount of time you have to be alone, toiling until the thing you’re creating is great. Much of one’s perseverance is believing you’re not wasting your time despite feeling lonely w/ many distractions
One useful trick for this sort of situation is to be so interested in whatever you're building that you'd still do it even if there was only a small chance the result would be "important." Work like a hobbyist. I suspect e.g. Wozniak did on the Apple I.

This helps, but the idea that if we love what we do we'll never work a day in our lives is a farce. Work is work, even if you love it and you cannot pour from an empty cup. This job is *isolating* and even though I live and breathe my work & don't chase $, it's not enough.
