I think the feeling that you “need” to raise money is unique to SV. In my experience, outside of DV I’d say it’s more common to not even know raising is an option, or to believe you couldn’t raise even if you wanted to.

Startups started by technical people do better....for a while. 95% of the early stage business I meet who have great products but stalled sales, were started by engineers. Great at the tech, don’t know how get in front if the right people.
