Hey, I was a camp counselor for years! That's SO much experience! (In all seriousness, some cool twin studies on the matter...and epigenetics throws this all into disarray)

By the same logic, you ignore the medical advice of anyone who's hasn't had your disease? Seems like nature vs nurture can be address via statistical studies better than personal experience.

I've been watching this string of related threads. I'm not seeing much discussion (forgive me of I missed it) of the fact that the issues are structural - a small percentage having all the wealth and seeing most of the income increases.
-
So you can say that a high percentage of that wealth was attained legally and through application of effort and still acknowledge that the structural issue must be solved. And saying "poverty is at an all time low worldwide!" while correct, is a tone-deaf response at best

i think the problem fundamentally comes from people conflating wealth with status. status is zero sum and can't really be redistributed; cf. participation trophies. but wealth is positive sum!
