Why is there no “the deck” for paywalls? Obvious win people. If cable companies can get together on cable anywhere, can’t content companies beg adobe to do single sign in for all of these content companies. There's a huge startup just waiting to either soar or be crushed in therehttps://twitter.com/benedictevans/status/1089588894151004160 …

My very first blog post, back in 2010, was about unbundling, curation and payment for news. Bizarre how absolutely nothing has changed in those arguments.

You'd have to do it from the bottom though, starting with "unimportant" users who simply had no alternative. The New York Times would be the very last to sign up.

That's why I suggested the deck... The independent ad network. You could implement it with some subset of niche publishers whose audience would like to support them.

Working on it right now. Not ads though. In US the whole concept of media business model is broken. Mix Chinese + European models will work nicely if implemented correctly. In US usually they try to solve it too directly hitting a wall as a result.

Blendle is this company. With the New York Times. They launched in the Netherlands a few years ago, a lot of people love it. Don't know why they are still in beta in the US. https://launch.blendle.com/

... beta in 2016... Mentions of a 25c refund... Something tells me it's not the Droid I'm looking for.
