Kids think their parents are experts, but in many respects they're complete noobs. If you're the oldest child, you're probably the first n-year old your parents have ever had to deal with.

I constantly have the feeling that my 10 year old son is more experienced at being a 10 year old than I am at being the parent of one.

Being a 10 year old son is his full-time job and only responsibility, whereas we divide our time between parenting and hundreds of other tasks. Of course he’s top notch at it.
