I will grant this a good steel man argument *against VC* which has me curious about transition from there to modern YC -> VC path. But also tangential to my original point which is "don't be ambitious" is a straw man of (I believe) the 'alternative to VC' case.
When startups raise huge rounds after YC it's not because the partners push them them to. The opposite in fact: the partners are always telling them not to focus so much on fundraising, not to be competitive about it, not to treat it as success, etc.
