Nope. My mom died from Alzheimer's disease. She was a health-nut her entire life. She was one of those people who brushed her teeth after every meal, flossed and used a water pic. The women on one side of her family tree seem to all die from it which suggests a genetic component.
My mother's family too. But that doesn't imply the article is wrong. The article is not saying that gum disease causes Alzheimer's, just that the same bacteria does. Perhaps people's resistance to this is partly genetic.

it's also possible that multiple things can cause this. had two different family members of wildly different ages that only started developing symptoms AFTER a major loss resulting in severe depression.
