The first time I wrote that, instead of "They're ok, but" I wrote "They're funny and all, but." Shudder if you know what that means.

It’s interesting that kids love repeated reading, watching. I guess it’s some feeling of security.

Had this struggle with my son, so last year my goal was to try twelve new things with him– ice skating, a soccer match, a woodworking class, etc. His aversion to change is much lower now.

When babysitting, I was reading my little first cousins once removed Schumpeter. I can't say that I won any merit badges from them, but, Boy, they did fall asleep! (And, in fairness, the older asked to define several words that were new to her.)

It's not about the reading. I'd guess it's about the ritual of something which you always do together which always happens exactly the way they expect. No surprises => feeling of safety => easier to fall asleep. At least, that's how it worked for me at that age.

In this case it's not that. We used to read all sorts of different books. There's just nothing else they like as much.

Just read something else. They’ll enjoy it.

"at this point we have them all memorized" that's a feature, not a bug (for the kids)
