That's not what you said, though. Magazine articles (by which I assume you mean features, since they're usually the ones with non-traditional leads) often have an aesthetic storytelling quality, which adds depth and nuance. Ignoring them misses half the impact.
If the writer is really good, I want their storytelling. If not, I'd rather spend the time reading a second article.
