One thing I think would help reduce elite Millennial burnout/disappointment/rage is for people to stop thinking that their job should save the world. "Save the world" and "make the world a better place" are probably just things employers tell you to get you to work for cheap.
They could also solve this problem, without giving up their ambition, by trying to be more discerning about which projects actually help the world.
For example, to the extent "the world" means its human population, Noora Health (http://noorahealth.org ) literally saves the world. Surely it's good that optimistic people want to work for them rather than just giving up on the idea of a job making the world better.

Awful lot of people who blame others for their own naivety. At some point you have to accept responsibility for the choices you make.
The problem is perhaps there are not enough world-saving jobs for all the ambitious people.
As long as human desire is infinite there will always be jobs even world-saving jobs. Curious and determined people will see problems in the world, solve that problem and execute a solution - creating jobs. The danger is seeing the problems but never executing a solution.
Or that all kinds of work have dignity and serve humanity, the “lowliest” likely to have greater significance in both practicality and humility.
my explanation for millennial’s inability to keep up with “adult life” as articles are describing it is simple- for a generation now parenting has been about protecting/spoiling, not preparing/empowering. so we’ve raised adult infants. view reinforced by @jordanbpeterson’s work
Agreed and at least in my experience the millenials are very discerning and are quite clear on how they want to impact. We are lucky to have some absolutely great members on our team @MSF_ChalkLit impacting teacher capacity in govt and low income schools in India
