A wise friend with 4 kids told me - take more photos, you will never have enough. I'm terrible at taking photos. It's not even the 3 year old we lose, it's the 2.95 year old we lose and every stage between.

Imo, age is experienced (or in your case, change is observed observed) at 1/age, so to a 3 year old moving to 4 it’s a 25% life move, while 50-51 is less than a tenth of that. YMMV.

In a traditional extended family there were lots of closely related kids of all ages—many of whom resembled each other, so this was less of a problem.
