Whenever I teach little kids something, I'm always trying harder to teach the meta-lessons, like breaking down a problem into smaller parts, or that practice makes you better.

So many adults want to teach children to practice and it’s ok to fail, but the adults are usually the ones that never want to fail or show vulnerability in front of others.
My older son is so competitive that there was nothing in the world he liked better when he was 3 (or now for that matter) than to be right when I was mistaken. It made him so happy that I learned to magnify every occasion when I was.

It’s great you’re happy to be human in front of your children. The amount of teachers that expect pupils to ask for help when they never do (even when they’re struggling) is staggering.
