I bet I've heard 100 startups explain why they failed to raise money, and I don't think I've heard one say that the reason was that their company seemed unpromising. And yet that is almost always the reason in the investors' minds.

1. isn't this a given? it's sort of like saying they didn't invest cause they didn't think they could get 10-100x -- if they did, they prob would've invested. 2. these founders also see things like cryptokitties get funded (not to knock them) and it's confusing what's "promising"
