Life is so much more fun when you dedicate yourself fully to one big thing, instead of dabbling into a bunch of tiny things. Or in Ron Swanson’s words, don’t half-ass two things, whole-ass one thing.
Interesting possibility: This may also make you more virtuous. When you do a lot of things, bad things can hide among them. When you only do one thing and it's bad, that's too conspicuous.

Yes, but the reverse could also be true. “Hard to get a man to understand something when his salary depends upon his not understanding it.” Easier to be emotionally detached when you’ve hedged your bets — but life’s too short to be detached!

I've heard the opposite. It's better to be able to combine multiple smaller talents to be able to do something more than the sum of them.
