to me, maybe it´s not even "convincing", but getting to know the other person´s way of thinking, experiences, references. I can take a break between a statement, reflect, and then go on asking. That´s a bit easier here. You have time for better questions.
Twitter is such a constraining medium that anyone who starts an important conversation on it that they could have started by email or in person cares more about the conversation being seen than actually convincing the other person.

True. And also, I don’t know how active you are now, but a few years ago you helped point me in the right direction RE: an Arc to JS compiler I was working on via email. Totally made it feel like people were reachable and willing to chat if one just reached out. Thanks for that!

That's why I've always said why not just not make it unlimited and have the same number of characters passing by in the tweets so that the cosmetic is the same? By the way have you read Gilder's "Life After Google" What do you think about it?
