Just as important as making something people want is finding the people who want what you’ve made.
That's why you should make something you yourself want. Then you just have to find your peers.

It definitely makes life easier, but it also limits the amount of problems that fit that criteria. There are many more severe/important problems that are not felt by people who build products.
