Watching is a good habit if it’s learning new skills, new knowledge and widening the scope of experiences like cooking, doing something new, etc. The issue right now is curation and tool to measure healthy content that is sticky for kids

Play is the work for kids till age 5-7 yrs. they learn through play. And I find it true, play when led by kids themselves( adults stay behind) is like science experiments. They learn through doing with trial and error. This is a powerful way to learn concepts and hands on

My kids have had it since 1.5-years-old and learned to read and type on it. Amongst many other things. The rich can afford babysitters and teachers, by the way. The rest of us need help. So asking that question will reveal a huge amount of privilege.

In contrast my son has almost never watched YouTube. We limit his time watching video (on phones, tablets or tv when we had one that worked) and generally only let him watch shows we filter or short videos we have already watched and then usually only as embedded not in the app
