Another possible lie is about the problem space. They’ll never say “we’re the best at X but what you really need is Y”.

The best accounts people will tell you need Y. Long term being trusted is more valuable than a single sale. When they move from company X to company Y people will still buy from them. Trust is a coin that can only be spent once, but always pays dividends when held.
