I remember many years ago (way before I joined Sumo) our teams were asked if anyone was working on content they felt could be patentable. We had forms that needed to be filled in detailing the feature for legal to look into.

The negativity I’m seeing about WB patenting the Nemesis system is a massive surprise to me. Anyone that works or has worked at a big studio must have seen this? It’s pretty common practice.

There are many examples of this, look up Crazy Taxi and Simpsons Hit & Run, pretty sure there’s something for ghost cars in racing games too, but yeah, seems odd that WB are getting so much stick.
