I feel like dev assistant is a still too weak a term. It makes it feel like they're still outside of the dev-team to me...
I totally agree with these sentiments, I really like the term Dev Assistant. I avoid the term QA. I was a Senior Test Lead for a few years, and always referred to my department as Test. SEGA referred to testers as 'Functionality Testers', 'Compliance Testers', 'Language Testers' etc. "What does Test think?" I think that sounded much better than 'QA'...

See we didn’t like the term test, for the same reason many don’t like QA. A subjective one it would seem.
