Ok web peeps: repeat after me: thou shalt not window.localStorage; it's just as slow as reading document.cookie.
@slightlylate I thought the point was that it doesn't also get sent on every request?

@paulbaumgart : yeah, that sort of matters, but the original sin is synchronous reads; locks/sync-IPCs of sadness. -
@slightlylate You could cache it in memory yourself and do setTimeout writes. (Not sure how much that helps in practice.)
