The Earth absorbs about 120 petawatts of solar power. We consume around 1/7000th of that. We aren't even close to the s-curve's asymptote.

In 1990, it took about 3.7 terawatt-hours to create $1B in GDP. In 2008, it only took about 2.5 TWh-- a 48% increase in efficiency.
