Something I’ve wondered for a long time: when you buy a share of eg facebook, what are you buying? FB/GOOGL/etc isn’t going to be acquired or liquidated, and because of dual class stock you don’t get a vote. So what is the connection between quarterly results and stock price?

But it doesn’t tho. And google has publicly stated that they would rather spend money on “other bets” than pay a dividend or repurchase stock.
