oh man this is what totally fucked me over last year. had everything planned out and then some, and then the bottom fell out. the woman signed the email cancelling the contract with a smiley face

6. dried herbs and spices go stale and eventually stop tasting like much, or at least as good as they did when they were fresh. (i literally just finished writing a book about this.) buy the smallest quantity of herbs and spices you can so they don't go stale before you use them!

2. i do think there is a big chunk of bay leaf discourse that is not making the "haha everyone has stale bay leaves in their cabinet" joke but literally the "bay leaves don't taste like anything" joke

i keep seeing internet jokes about how bay leaves don't taste like anything/don't do anything in a dish and...that is wrong? are you all just using old stale bay leaves? (yes)

Today I'm in making the case for why byline counting is essential to improving newsroom diversity -- the causes of journalism's homogeneity are many, but tracking bylines can at least prevent news leaders from feigning ignorance about the problem.
