white people, white supremacy is coming for you too. it's a consciously evil rapacious system of hierarchy, economic exploitation, and power that will stop at nothing to further unearned advantages for a select few. we all need to organize and fight against it, right tf now.

By now I would think most would understand that white supremacy will destroy this entire country - not just Black, Brown,Asian & indigenous people. It is a deadly poison to which this country is uniquely vulnerable. And we will either fight it or be destroyed as a nation by it.

to be perfectly clear without any of the dust up with the college board and the ap African American Studies class the college board doesn't give a shit about anything but making money and should have been dissolved decades ago. they are a shitty profiteering organization.
3
npr platformed the president of the college board and director of the ap African American Studies course and they insist any changes were made back in December and if the changes look like what the racist president of Florida wanted, it's purely a coincidence

disappointed to hear teresa reed on npr making a bunch of excuses for the college board about the ap Black Studies course. guess you gotta cape who pays you tho.

i can say that, for me, as a white guy, one of the primary reasons i choose African American Studies for my phd was to help eliminate, or at least come closer to eliminating, white supremacy

The Meaning of African American Studies: “Black studies is supposed to be an epistemological break, and that’s why it’s dangerous—because it actually wants to try to figure out a way to make this country not racist.”♦ newyorker.com/culture/q-and-

Some thoughts about building Black History programs at your schools. I have worked with many states, school districts, and large companies on these issues.

when the lake oswego school district brought in a white woman who runs the organization "coaching peace " because they have a systematic white supremacy problem
Quote Tweet
Organizations would rather bring in (and pay for) an outside consultant to tell them the exact same thing a small minority of folx within the organization have been saying for years.
welcome to Portland

“A Portland police officer and union boss who was fired after leaking an erroneous traffic complaint targeting former (black woman) Commissioner Jo Ann Hardesty will get his job back, an arbitrator ruled Wednesday.” Of course he will! oregonlive.com/crime/2023/02/

if a white person is arguing that collectively whites aren't responsible for systemic white supremacy and therefore need to collectively hold whites accountable for ending it by pointing to a guy who enslaved hundreds of people and raped at least 1 of them repeatedly, stop it.

Sigh :study UShistory . 1at draft of Constitution T Jefferson condemned slavery . In letter to early abolitionist Frances Wright , Jefferson stated “ You have my full endorsement . If it were not that I have foot in the grave and another soon to follow would do more .
As usual, has done the reading. Here he cites this great essay from Desmond Jagmohan, an absolutely brilliant scholar of Black political thought & an expert on Booker T. Washington. Jagmohan has a forthcoming book that extends this argument and will be worth checking out!

the inclusion of douglass here is a joke, but i want to quickly note that there is a wonderful essay on washington in the volume “African American Political Thought: A Collected History,” that frames him as a “theorist of political deception…” (cont.) twitter.com/nro/status/162…

Subtract “Black Queer Studies,” add “black conservatism.” Talk about an upgrade. There’s a long, rich black conservative intellectual tradition, stretching from Frederick Douglass to Booker T. Washington to Thomas Sowell. | @njhochman trib.al/L0PEDRF

this is the right way

My hottest take: just get rid of the AP program. Figure out a way to get kids into classes at local colleges & universities. The stilted, test oriented classes are nowhere near of the same quality/style as college classes & it empowers the College Board monopoly.

I’m beginning to believe that the 5th Circuit would reinstate slavery if someone brought up the right case
Quote Tweet
🚨 The 5th Circuit just said govt cant temporarily disarm a person found to pose a threat to another & subject to a DV restraining order. It strains analogies to discard past laws disarming dangerous folks, but this is the key: the founders didnt care abt DV, so modern laws cant. twitter.com/JacobDCharles/…

I’m leaving Memphis after a week here and it’s been difficult but I’ve been surprised by how much love people here have. The last time I felt people were so friendly was probably in Damascus, in another lifetime for me and the city. So I’ve been sad and tried to focus on love

The Grizzlies have now lost 6 of their last 7 games after falling to Portland at home tonight and also snapped an eight-game home winning streak. This tough stretch came after Memphis won 11-straight. Meanwhile, Blazers star @Dame_Lillard is averaging 39 points his last 11 games.
