Since it's hip to do genealogy and relate it to immigration preferences: ~50% of my DNA is pre-revolutionary. I've got a first family of Virginia in there, the founders of Hartford, CT, a debtor-deportee in Georgia, and Washington's wife (Custis).

The other 50% is trickier, but it seems like at least a quarter came in before the civil war: German schoolteacher/48er if my census legwork is correct. The other 25% I'm less sure on but is no later than 1880, probably pre civil war, maybe as early as 1800.

Male line descent is pre-revolutionary. We just sold the last land in Georgia last year. I dug some of this up as my wife and I got chatting and I realized she is almost 100% fresh off the boat.

And by fresh off the boat I mean post-civil war because let's be honest everybody who arrived after that conflict really missed the defining national event amirite

And ya know what? With my impeccable long-term resident DNA.... I think immigration is swell and we should have more of it!
