My uncle's favorite thing to say when he gets philosophical is that "everything in life is war." Though even he does not hold it literally to the extent that those who say "everything is politics" do (who are also unaware that it is basically an uncle-level insight).

The uncle is, ironically, gets the last word, because those who say everything is politics are waging a type of war.
-
I like the idea of the old, uncouth uncle pulling out of nowhere Foucault’s inversion of Clausewitz (“politics is war by other means”) and just sitting back, arms folded in victory
-
This is literally going to be my go-to line when I encounter someone saying "everything is politics." I'll retort with "Well, my uncle says everything is war, have any arguments against that?"
-
And if they do, put them on notice that they are declaring war against you and should prepare for the consequences.
-
Which they should fear, esp. if I bring my uncle, lol.
-
I’m increasingly inclined to conduct all intellectual arguments on the level of “my dad could beat up your dad”
-
It's merely a continuation of philosophy by other means.
